Get up & Go - Rock Your Shots: Capturing Taddy Porter’s Comeback with Canon USA + David Bergman

There are moments in your creative journey that remind you you're exactly where you’re meant to be—and this was one of them.

Through the Canon USA Get Up & Go - Rock Your Shot contest, I was selected to capture Taddy Porter’s first show back on stage—a rising band who previously toured with Bon Jovi and is now stepping into the spotlight again with swagger, and a story to tell.

A First Show with Rockstar Energy

The venue? Oklahoma City Tower Theatre, an intimate yet vibrant space with historic charm and modern production energy. From the first strum to the final chorus, Taddy Porter owned the stage—with  raw vocals, personal lyrics, and a magnetic presence. It didn’t just feel like a debut—it felt like a reintroduction to artists ready to take up space and make some serious noise.

Learning from a Canon Explorer of Light: David Bergman

As part of the contest, I got to spend the day learning from none other than David Bergman, who has toured with Bon Jovi and is now Luke Combs photographer, he has photographed some of the biggest names in music. Watching him in action and hearing his insights on capturing those blink-and-you-miss-it tour moments was truly next-level!

He shared how to shoot with purpose—not just to document, but to tell the story of an artist’s performance through emotion, energy, and detail. From anticipation to applause, every frame should make someone feel something. That stuck with me.

Canon Came Through BIG

Canon absolutely spoiled us with two EOS R3 bodies, paired with a RF 24–105mm and RF 70–200mm lens—some of the best mirrorless tech on the market. The autofocus, image quality, and low-light performance blew me away. It felt like the gear disappeared, and all that was left was the music and the moment.

And yes… I already miss holding that R3. 😅

Bedford Camera & Video: The Photographer’s Playground

No trip would’ve been complete without visiting Bedford Camera & Video, a true Mecca for photographers. The store was packed with dream equipment, knowledgeable staff, and a contagious passion for all things visual. It was like stepping into the ultimate creative candy store.

Final Thoughts

This wasn’t just about getting a cool shot. It was about leveling up. From connecting with fellow photographers to getting mentored by a legend and shooting an artist on the rise, I walked away with so much more than photos.

Grateful for the chance. Energized to keep creating.
And ready for the next stage, the next show, the next story.

Until then—
